Advocacy Committee
Represents downtown business and property owner interests to government and elected officials. Develops recommendations on public policies and budgets impacting downtown. Supports other advocacy committees such as parking, BART, entertainment and Fountain Alley, and frames positions on specific issues like housing, retail, crime, cleanlinss and shuttles. Meets as needed.
Executive Committee
The President of the Board of Directors is chair of this 11-member committee whose composition is established by the SJDA By-laws. The immediate past president is ex-officio member. Manages the activities and affairs of the Association and exercises all powers granted to the Board by the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws. Makes policy, advocacy and program recommendations to the Board. Meets the first Thursday of the month at 8 a.m.
Downtown Design Committee
Focuses on recruiting architects and design professionals to reward good design behavior as well as influence downtown design in the long term. Presents Jim Fox Golden Nail awards and Golden Nail Beautification Awards in recognition of outstanding projects. Meets every fourth Wednesday of the month.
