The President of the Board of Directors is chair of this 11-member committee, whose composition is established by the SJDA By-laws. The immediate past president is ex-officio member. Manages the activities and affairs of the Association and exercises all powers granted to the Board by the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws. Makes policy, advocacy and program recommendations to the Board. Meets the first Thursday of the month at 8 a.m.
Represents downtown business and property owner interests to government and elected officials. Develops recommendations on public policies and budgets impacting downtown. Supports other advocacy committees such as parking and BART, and frames positions on specific issues like housing, retail, crime, cleanlinss and shuttles. Meets as needed.

Consists of architects, designers, and urbanists advocating for design excellence in the downtown core. For significant development projects downtown, the committee provides architectural review to recommend design solutions that enhance downtown’s livability and vitality. The committee honors built projects with Golden Nail awards, recognizing great contributions of architecture and urban design to the character of downtown.
