At Work

Downtown San Jose is home to 20,000 daytime office workers – it is considered by many companies in the region as Silicon Valley’s City Center. The leaders of some of the world’s most innovative companies – Cisco Systems, Adobe Systems, Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Applied Materials and Network Appliance for starters — have committed to making downtown prosper as a regional center where arts, culture and technology intersect. With a solid city center fostering innovation, these companies can retain and recruit the best and brightest talent.

Downtown attracts one of the country’s most gifted workforces. Tech powerhouses Adobe Systems and Acer, up-and-rising companies including Xactly, ICTV and Fat Spaniel, along with financial stalwarts UBS and Hood and Strong, share 8.2 million square feet of office space, 1.4 million square feet of retail space and a common entrepreneurial spirit with start-ups, smaller companies and an increasingly dynamic retail marketplace. This is the center of one of the most highly educated populations on the planet; we intend it to stay that way.
