PRE-SHOW: Zombie-O-Rama 5 starts and 4:30pm and includes: zombie make-up pop up shops and vendors; zombie-crawl to over 10 participating restaurants/clubs; costume contests; young zombie parade and live music.

Friday, August 31 – Shaun of the Dead (2004/R) – starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

movie zombie crawl; young zombie parade; costume contests; live bands and more.
*Last year’s zombie-o-rama event attracted over 3,000 people and included 10 zombie crawl sites
throughout downtown.

Starlight Cinemas 2010

Explore distinct downtown areas (San Pedro SquareHistoric DistrictSoFA District, Circle of Palms and St. James Park) and meet the people and businesses that give downtown its character.

These events are all FREE! Pre-show fun starts at 7 p.m. (except for Zombie-O-Rama, which starts at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 21).  Movies begin at dusk.  BYOC (or B) – Bring Your own Chair (or Blanket).  The high-backed chairs are OK.  Stop by a restaurant and pick up your food – “to go” of course.  No outside alcohol allowed at St. James, Historic or SoFA — the only alcohol served is from the San Pedro Square Market.

Hook Crowd_1Wednesday, June 12 – Princess Bride (1987/PG) - A romantic comedy adventure film based on the 1973 novel of the same name by William Goldman. Rob Reiner directed the film, with a stellar cast that includes: Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Peter Falk and Fred Savage.

Wednesday, June 26 – Home Alone (1990/PG) – An 8-year-old boy, who is accidentally left behind while his family flies to France for Christmas, has to defend his home against idiotic burglars. Starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Catherine O’Hara.

Wednesday, July 31 – KQED Presents: “Mi Mambo!” (2006/not rated)  - Music meets the streets of East Harlem at the Harbor Conservatory where Latin rhythms create a lifeline for kids. Mi Mambo! goes inside the Conservatory, exploring how it captures and fees on the musical energies of the street. Students perform son, mambo, and salsa along side professionals, demonstrating why this music deserves the same respect as classical and jazz. The film follows the ups and downs of five students as they learn to navigate what is, for them, an uneven playing field.

PRE-SHOW: San Jose Jazz High School All Stars performance 6:30 – 8pm. The San Jose Jazz High School All Stars is a regional, audition-based big band and a combo featuring some of the best, young jazz musicians in Bay Area, representing 14 regional high schools. The All Stars feature an exciting repertoire of music ranging from classic-era big band to Latin jazz to current jazz charts.

Wednesday, August 14 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986/PG-13)– Teenager Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) is a legend in his own time thanks to his uncanny skill at cutting classes and getting away with it. Intending to make one last grand duck-out before graduation, Ferris calls in sick, “borrows” a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day bacchanal through the streets of Chicago. Dogging Ferris’ trail at every turn is high-school principal Rooney (Jeffrey Jones), determined to catch Bueller in the act of class-cutting. Also starring Jennifer Grey, Mia Sara, Alan Ruck, Jeffrey Rooney, Ben Stein and Charlie Sheen.

Wednesday, June 19 – The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994 / R) – Two drag-queens (Anthony/Mitzi and Adam/Felicia) and a transexual (Bernadette) contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a resort town in the remote Australian desert. They head west from Sydney aboard their lavender bus, Priscilla. En route, it is discovered that the woman they’ve contracted with is Anthony’s wife. Their bus breaks down, and is repaired by Bob, who travels on with them. Starring: Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, Terence Stamp and Rebel Penfold-Russell.

Wednesday, July 10 – Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981/PG)- Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 American fantasy-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by George Lucas, and starring Harrison Ford. It is the first installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. Archeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is hired by the US government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis.

Starlight Cinemas SoFA

SoFA District  Home of Zombie-O-Rama V on Wednesday, Aug. 21. An arts and entertainment hub and ground zero for the growing late night gallery crawl, South First Fridays. The SoFA District is rich with options to stimulate one’s creativity.

Wednesday, August 21 – Zombieland (2009/R) – A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, and a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the Last Twinkie and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone and Bill Murray.
