California’s minimum wage for workers increases to $10.50 per hour starting Jan. 1.
The $10.50 rate will be temporary. Starting July 1, 2017, in reaction to a recommendation by Cities Association of Santa Clara County, San Jose City Council approved a bump of the minimum wage to $12 for most workers except youth in job training programs. The minimum wage approved by the City Council will be $13.50 on Jan. 1, 2018, and $15 on Jan. 1, 2019. Statewide, the wage will be $15 on Jan. 1, 2022.
