With her velvety voice and captivating stage presence, Mayumi Abe is set to grace the Tabard Theatre’s intimate cabaret stage, bringing an evening of unforgettable music.

Mayumi’s exquisite interpretation of jazz standards and ability to infuse each note with heartfelt expression has earned her a devoted following across the globe. 

From sultry ballads that tug at the heartstrings to energetic swing numbers that make you want to tap your feet, Mayumi Abe’s repertoire explores the breadth of jazz history. Her deep understanding of the genre allows her to add her own unique flair to each performance, making every song a personal and intimate experience.

Mayumi will be accompanied by a stellar quartet, led by the phenomenal Modesto Briseno on trumpet. Briseno, whose father played with Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, and Harry James, is a third-generation jazz musician and long-time fixture on the Bay Area jazz scene, and has performed with the Ray Charles Orchestra, Tom Harrell, and many other jazz greats. He has been compared to Chet Baker for his ability to sing the trumpet, and to Roy Eldridge for his full-bodied sweet intonation. As a bandleader, Modesto consistently gathers some of the finest top-call musicians in the Bay whenever he plays.
