Naglee Park PorchFest – the little event that brought a neighborhood together during the pandemic and keeps bringing joy 4 years later returns to the porches, driveways & front lawns of neighbors on June 17th, 3-7pm. A true community effort goes into making PorchFest happen each year – the Campus Community Association along with Messenger Events organizes bands, food trucks, bathrooms, but it’s the neighbors who put on the real party – pulling block party permits, hiring bounce houses, sharing snacks, inviting neighbors from all of Naglee Park and beyond to share their yards and celebrate the unifying power of music together!
PorchFest began during the height of shelter in place orders in Summer, 2020. In its first year, bands loaded onto flatbed trucks which were paraded through the neighborhood while neighbors watched from their porches and front windows. It was a little sliver of hope and happiness in what had been a dismal few months under shelter in place orders.
PorchFest was so popular that it withstood the test of 4 years both in and out of gathering restrictions. In 2023, it has now grown to 10 bands in 10 locations, with neighbors (instead of bands) doing the traveling from home to home on foot, bikes, scooters you name it. PorchFest will feature 4 food trucks and as always, an array of musicians both local and from out of town playing a variety of genres of music.
