Join SVBC and CreaTV for a beginner-friendly guided bike ride from the beautiful Municipal Rose Garden to Downtown San Jose!
This short and slow guided ride will begin at the beautiful Municipal Rose Garden (whose roses should be in full swing in May!) before meandering along San Jose’s Better Bikeways West to East routes to enjoy some coffee/snacks from San Jose’s very own Nirvana Soul. After our quick pick-me-up, we will finish our ride with the short jaunt (.5 mile) to CreaTV‘s HQ Open San José, where we will be watching a screening of the cult classic Italian screenplay from 1948, “Bicycle Thieves”. After the movie, we will lead a guided ride back to the Rose Garden.
Make a whole day out of it! Grab sandwiches at Zanotto’s (just a couple blocks from the Rose Garden) and picnic in the garden amongst the roses prior to the ride. After the movie, grab some dinner or a drink at one of the many great spots in DTSJ!
12:30 PM – Pre-ride (for those who want to extend the ride length and/or are joining us from Downtown San Jose) leaves from Diridon Caltrain Station
12:45 PM- Gathering, helmet fittings, minor adjustments, mingling at Rose Garden begins. Better yet, arrive early and enjoy the roses and a picnic lunch with your group!
1:00 PM – Depart the Rose Garden for our first stop – Nirvana Soul, in DTSJ
1:30 PM – Arrive at Nirvana Soul for a quick pick-me-up
2:00 PM – Depart for CreaTV’s HQ Open San José (just a couple blocks up the street)
2:30 PM – Movie begins (90 minute run-time)
5:00 PM – Return ride to the Rose Garden – or, pick up some food and bevvies and hang out in DTSJ for the evening
What To Bring:
– Working bicycle
– Flat repair (if you have it)
– Layers of clothing
– Note: to make sure we have indoor parking space for bikes at Open San José, please avoid bringing trailers or other big bike extras (if you have a trailer for your child, that is totally fine, we just want to be conscious of the indoor space at Open San José).
Like all of SVBC’s events, we will have free bike lights and helmets to give away, as well as helmet fittings and bike safety checks.
Exact route is to be announced, but we promise – absolutely no one will be left behind!
This event is sponsored by Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.
