Sands Speakeasy: A Tribute to the Rat Pack
August 6 @ 8:00 pm$10 – $35
Tabard Theatre announces the addition of Sands Speakeasy: A Tribute to the Rat Pack on Saturday, August 6 at 8pm to its on-going “Cool Summer Nights” concert series. Martinis and Manhattans will be in order as you travel musically back in time to the Copa Room of the Las Vegas Sands in 1966 with this tribute show. Two-time Grammy nominated vocalist Jaime Davis will be swinging favorites from Sinatra, Martin, Davis and more, backed by The Modesto Briseno Septet. Patrons are encouraged to don fedoras and cocktail attire, but should feel free to come as they are. This event will be available in-person, and livestreamed. For folks who aren’t able to enjoy it live, the high-quality recording will be available on-demand for one month following the performance. Tickets for the event are $25 general admission and $35 for reserved Vegas-style cabaret seating.
Long-time singer with the Count Basie Orchestra, vocalist Jamie Davis holds a position amongst the pantheon of great male vocalists with a compelling full baritone voice and a passion for his craft that leaves his audiences uplifted and feelin’ good. Davis possesses the flexibility and sexy sophistication by his effortless delivery to stand with any of the great vocalists. He has been described as a fine wine which has stood the test of time, constantly innovating jazz classics, ‘rolling out’ the blues and performing with one foot in the past and the other in ‘today.’
Bandleader and trumpet player Modesto Briseno, whose father played with Benny Goodman, Stan Kenton, and Harry James, is a third-generation jazz musician and long-time fixture on the Bay Area jazz scene, and has performed with the Ray Charles Orchestra, Tom Harrell, and many other jazz greats. He has been compared to Chet Baker for his ability to sing the trumpet, and to Roy Eldridge for his full-bodied sweet intonation. As a bandleader,Modesto consistently gathers some of the finest top-call musicians in the Bay whenever he plays.
This swinging tribute show is the latest addition to the San Pedro Street music and theatre venue’s summer lineup, dubbed “Cool Summer Nights.”
