THEM Feature Film
June 20 @ 7:00 pm$10 – $30
Awesome Theatre and The Tabard Theatre Company announce a special screening of THEM in honor of Juneteenth on Monday, June 20 at 7pm at Tabard Theatre in downtown San Jose. THEM, a social justice apocalypse film, was Awesome Theatre’s first feature-length effort and premiered at PianoFightSF on March 25, 2022 to a sold-out audience. In order to keep the event accessible to most, tickets will be available with “choose your own capacity” pricing of $10, $20 and $30. A portion of ticket sales for this event will be donated to the San Jose African American Community Service Agency.
Written by J. Elliot Mendez, and directed by Nikki Meñez the film centers around four strangers hunkered down in an all-but-abandoned house while trying to outrun the apocalypse. As the world ends outside, the secrets of each, Dakota – a suburban mom, Argentina – a grassroots political activist, and Milwaukee – the group’s gun-toting self-proclaimed protector, come crawling out and pulling at the ties that bind them together. Soon they realize Cincinnati – the house’s owner, hides the most dangerous secret. With time running out, these unlikely allies will first have to answer the question that looms; “is it us or THEM?”
The film, which was produced by Erica Andrachio, features performances from actors Jaq Moore, Pamela-Drummer Williams, Nicole Odell, Nikki Nutterfield, Vince Faso, and Janelle Aguirre, with cinematography by Colin Johnson.
