Stop Motion Festival: Invention in Motion

March 3 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

$10 – $20

Join us in celebrating imagination, art and movement with the first ever SJSU Stop Motion Animation festival. Our festival will kick off with a series of hands-on workshops focusing on different areas of stop motion animation productions: puppetry, fabrication techniques, miniature sets and props, character development and of course, animation and storytelling. The workshops will be followed by a weekend of screenings, panels and Q&As at the Hammer Theater. Stop Motion Animation entails photographing your object or figure, slightly moving them, and photographing them again. When the photos are played in succession, the objects or characters appear to be moving on their own. Interdisciplinary by nature, this fascinating art form encompasses several areas – bringing them together to create thought provoking magic. Check our Special Programming and make sure to attend our Feature film screening of THE INNVENTOR, with Academy Nominated Director Jim Capobianco in attendance for a Q&A following the film. On Sunday, starting at 2pm, we will have Screenings, a Panel, and a retrospective of the sophisticated work of Director Kangmin Kim with Q&A with him right after.
