Summer Solstice Trail Cleanup at the Guadalupe River Park

June 15 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Join the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy & San Jose Downtown Association in preparation of Summer Solstice by beautifying our trails!

Please note that the minimum age to volunteer for this event is 10 years old. Adult chaperones are required to attend with individuals age 15 and under. In addition, we required all individuals under 18 years old to have a guardian read and sign our Volunteer Service Agreement form. You must email an electronic copy to volunteer@grpg.org. The Volunteer Service Agreement is attached here.

Come help us spruce up the River Park! Our Trail Cleanups are a great opportunity to beautify the grounds of the park and give a little love to the planet. The Summer Solstice marks the official start of astronomical summer and the longest day of the year meaning it experiences the maximum intensity of the sun’s rays and has the most hours of sunlight. In special collaborations with San Jose Downtown Association, we will be hosting our largest cleanup of the year yet!

We will meet at the Carousel in Arena Green West next to the SAP Center. Parking for all volunteers will be standard paid street parking. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:00 AM for a contactless sign-in; workday instructions will follow and we will begin our walking cleanup shortly after. We provide all necessary tools for the cleanup as well as disposable gloves. The workday will run through 11:00 AM, or when it gets too hot to work outside (seasonal). We are unable to accommodate drop-ins if the event is sold out. School groups and corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to schedule events.

In addition, please note that:

  • Restrooms will not be readily available during the clean up, as we will be walking through the park.
  • Please bring a full reusable water bottle. Light water and snacks are provided.
  • Closed-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty are highly encouraged.
  • We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat.
  • Inclement weather may cancel this event; we will contact you should conditions require the event to be postponed.
