The Haberdasher Shows First Thursdays series continues November 6 with another evening celebrating the intersection of live music, visual art, and craft inside San José’s original speakeasy.
This free 21+ event begins at 5 p.m. with specialty cocktails, a featured artisan, and community, followed by live music at 6:15 p.m.
This month’s features resident trio Jonathan Francisco Borca (vocals/poetry), Bennett Roth (keys), and Mark Arroyo (guitar), performing a unique styling of Hip Hop(e), blending jazz fusion, rap, and storytelling into affirmation-based, healing music.
This month’s art feature is Haberdasher’s own Luis Murcia, whose work fuses skateboarding culture, Salvadoran roots, and the immigrant experience with psychedelic energy and Nahuatl
influence. His first solo pop-up exhibit captures the pursuit and fleeting beauty of the American dream through neon, pastel tones, and 3D effects.
Expanding on the series’ new format introduced in October, this month also features a guest musician and maker as a part of a growing rotation highlighting San José’s creative community.
Singer-songwriter Ben Henderson, a cornerstone of the city’s music scene for over 25 years, will perform a special 30-minute set. The night’s featured maker, Kimberly Johnson of Noteworthy, brings her eclectic artistry to Haberdasher with upcycled candles, original greeting cards, and hand-burned wooden ornaments available for on-the-spot customization.
The Haberdasher Shows will conclude its 2025 residency in December with a final installment inside one of downtown’s most intimate bars and burgeoning creative spaces.
