Touch of Brass Tribute to Tower of Power

July 24, 2022 @ 6:00 pm

$10 – $37

Having sold-out this Tower of Power tribute twice in the last few years, Tabard is pleased to bring back San Jose-based big band Touch of Brass in their tribute concert to the renowned Oakland-based band that emerged in the 1970s as a horn-driven dynamic blend of  R&B, soul, funk, and AM pop. The show will be available both in-person and live streamed. For those unable to experience the concert live that night, the high-quality multi-camera recording will also be available On-Demand for two weeks following the show. Single tickets for each show are $29 for General Admission, $37 for reserved Cabaret seating, and discounts for seniors and students. Proof of vaccination is required for in-person patrons. Masking is encouraged but not required.

Tower of Power was key in pushing the sound of brass-infused music into the rock era. Now, here’s your chance to experience their music in Tabard’s intimate space, in an experience you won’t soon forget. Hear and feel Touch of Brass’ 21-piece big band paying tribute to Tower of Power, America’s funkiest band celebrating over 50 years of sweet soul music!

A Touch of Brass is an 18-piece band, including two vocalists, featuring some of the most talented musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Band leader Ed Morrison has 40 years of musical accomplishments as lead trumpet backing such notables as Larry Elgart, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, as well as playing for jazz greats John Faddis, Steve Turre, and Kevin Mahogany. He free-lances with many different types of groups playing styles from salsa to funk to Gospel and theater. Ed’s biggest musical influence is trumpeter Doc Severinsen.
