Step inside a piece of San Jose’s rich past 🏛️
Built in the 1850s by one of the city’s earliest mayors, the Fallon House is a beautifully preserved Victorian mansion featuring 15 fully furnished rooms that showcase the elegance and craftsmanship of the era. While the home was later occupied by Thomas Fallon, a frontiersman, politician, and early city leader, the building itself was constructed by José Manuel Gonzeles, an Apache Indian and one of San Jose’s first elected officials.
The Fallon House played a key role in the early growth of downtown San Jose and remains a testament to the city’s layered heritage.

A Mural That Speaks to San Jose’s Roots 🐝🎨
Tucked away at 4 N Second St, this striking mural by Patrick Hofmeister (2020) is more than just a visual masterpiece — it’s a symbol of resilience, migration, and impact.
Titled “Labor of Our Fruit,” the piece uses the honeybee as a powerful metaphor for the immigrant story. Just as the honeybee was introduced to San Jose in 1853 by Christopher A. Shelton and went on to revolutionize California agriculture, so too have immigrants shaped the landscape and future of our community.
Every swirl, jewel, and golden accent woven through this design reflects the beauty of contribution — no matter one’s origin, size, or story.
📍 4 N Second St, San Jose, CA 95113
