First Friday Fiesta: Mare.e.Fresh

Mare.e.Fresh is a DJ/producer based out of San Jose that combines a mix of cumbia/hiphop/reggaeton/and the occasional banda to create a blend of music aimed at making people dance. Her DJ'ing is centered around taking up and harvesting space in which people can have fun and dance in through music. She has opened up for artists such as Mala Rodriguez, Chicano Batman, El Dusty, Zion I, Red Store Bums, and Sister Mantos.

We Have Iré is created by award-winning poet, performer, and artist Paul S. Flores. It is a play about hope that explores Cuban artists, immigration and Afro-Latinx themes using jazz, spoken-word, and dance. Blessings (iré) as well as curses (osogbo) plus the triumph of establishing one's voice in a new country is at the center of this work.
