The San Jose Blues Summit
November 16
The winner of the 2006 Bay Area Blues Society West Coast Blues Band of the Year award, JC Smith is an energetic and charismatic guitarist and singer, who attacks the blues as if he is being guided by the masters like T-Bone Walker, Albert King, and Johnnie Guitar Watson.
Smith started as a drummer with Back to Back Blues Band, but in 2000, he seized the role of frontman armed with his Gibson 335. He hasn’t looked back since. Smith’s group was named “Best Original/Local Band” in Metro Silicon Valley’s “Best of Silicon Valley” issue (2012) and his band was awarded West Coast Blues Band of the Year by the Bay Area Blues Society in 2006.
Smith’s last CD Defining Cool entered the Living Blues Radio Charts at #16 and was a “Pick to Click” on XM Radio.
Smith hosts his own blues radio show on KKUP under the name “Johnnie Cosmik” and has toured throughout the United States, Eastern Europe, Mexico, South America and Russia. He’s shared the stage with such notable artist as Hubert Sumlin, BB King, Buddy Guy, Buddy Miles, and Pinetop Perkins.
