Exciting news: Post Street is now officially a pedestrian mall! This transformation creates a dynamic and welcoming space for the community to gather, explore, and support local businesses. It marks a significant milestone for downtown San Jose, ushering in a new era of connection, culture, and commerce.

For over four years, Post Street has been a key focus of the San Jose Downtown Association, and we are thrilled to finally see this vision come to life. A huge thank you to Nate LeBlanc for his unwavering dedication throughout this process. This milestone also brings renewed energy and vibrancy to the area, making Post Street the second pedestrian mall in downtown San Jose, following San Pedro Street.

Shoutout to Our Local Business Owners

We want to extend a special shoutout to the incredible business owners on Post Street, especially Eric Nielsen (owner of 55 South) and Blair Carson (owner of Pageboy Salon). Their dedication, advocacy, and passion for the neighborhood have been instrumental in this transformation. Their efforts reflect the spirit of collaboration and community that makes downtown San Jose thrive.

A Collaborative Effort

This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without the tremendous support and collaboration from our City partners. Nathan Svoboda and Project MORE have been pivotal in enhancing the street visually and activating it with events and marketing. A heartfelt thank you to Blage, Nathan, and Chris from the Office of Economic Development, as well as Kiara and Daniela from the District 3 office for their valuable contributions.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the property owners on Post Street, particularly Harvest Properties and Sarah Zhang, whose support has helped turn this vision into a reality.

What’s Next for Post Street?

With Post Street officially closed to traffic, the San Jose Downtown Association will continue to work alongside neighborhood stakeholders to enhance the space. We are excited to announce the installation of a ground mural in the near future, as well as other infrastructure improvements, including the addition of bollards. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to more updates as we continue to bring this vision to life!
