A ribbon-cutting was held this morning for five new businesses along Paseo de San Antonio as part of the MOMENT Paseo pop-up retail program – a collaboration between SJDA, the City of San Jose, and San Jose Made.
Sueños at 112 Paseo de San Antonio is a curated retail experience featuring three Latina-owned businesses: La Paloma Imports, MiGi Cera Candles, and Cositas Contreras, offering candles, home goods, decor, plus handcrafted jewelry and accessories.
Two woman-owned businesses share the space at 115 Paseo de San Antonio: Bad Witch Crystals and Plant Slut. Together, they create a retail experience imbued with youthful energy and distinct personality.
MOMENT Paseo is the first stage of the brand new MOMENT Downtown San José Program, which already includes the existing MOMENT San Pedro Square storefronts. Funded by the City of San José’s Office of Economic Development and managed by the San Jose Downtown Association and MOMENT, the program significantly lowers the barriers for local creative small businesses to establish a retail storefront in downtown San José. The program includes space improvement grants, affordable rent, and extensive marketing assistance.
“By lowering barriers to entry for these talented business owners, we’re fostering a thriving marketplace where creativity and community intersect,” said Audrey Yeung, project coordinator at MOMENT.
The MOMENT Downtown San José program also supports strategic goals for Downtown: Reducing commercial vacancies, proving the market for future retail, generating foot traffic, and enhancing Downtown’s product offering for residents and businesses. More MOMENT spaces are in the works with announcements on future locations coming soon.
